We had a devotional this morning on the power of words, a follow-up in our series of devotionals to learn more about civility and how it blesses society on so many levels. We watched:
Civility short from values.com
We discussed some other things (especially how words and actions can affect a home, a community and a nation--can we say "presidential elections"?) and watched this:
Piper's reflection was summed up by this: "Sometimes I think that people are like a container. And they just don't feel complete inside. And when you say a comment it's like mixing it up and adding something to it. And you don't see the difference on the outside but you made a whole new world on the inside."
Many times, no one will say anything. I will share something short or we may have several people share things. I have had a little "reflection treat" ("reflecting is sweet!" I say) like a Hershey's Kiss or the like for afterward.
Someone asked where I get my videos. Heaven helps me, literally, and God will help you too! I love lds.org, values.com and then I use youtube a lot to find videos by plugging in phrases like "civility" or "brain video for kids." I know there is a lot of garbage on there but there is a lot of goodness and I love it when other people's "art" can teach the souls of my children!
